"what to do with 10k clicks per month student finance traffic?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:10:45

I have a site that gets around 10,000 student loans / student bank accounts - related adclicks per month. On PPC alone this doesn't do as well as I believe it can/should. I wondering if anyone has any better ideas. Are there any high-paying programs out there that cater specifically to the student finance sector?CheersJames Have you thought about other things students related? In the US there are programs that offer people a chance to sign up for free to win a college scholarship which pay out on the first page submitted. Maybe there is similar stuff here too. I may be wrong but I dont think student + high-paying go together! I'm surprised theres no affiliate programs for student bank accounts out there - they are willing to incentivise these accounts with interest free overdrafts (of up to £2000) and general goodies when you sign up so there must be money in it... I agree it's pretty frustrating. I even offered to sell the traffic to salliemae co uk. Sadly they never came back to me despite their advertising in Google and spending upwards of £1 per click on adwords. Wish they had more sense.... I would happily undercut Google's fee per click. Allow me to paint a picture for you. Many are ruled by few. These few apply their power as if it were be and unbounded currying advance and putting down insubordination through intimidation and force on a regular basis. Is this scenario taken from Stalinist Russia? Or maybe it's more current from the situation in Burma? Think again. This scenario plays out measure and time again right here at the College thanks to the Student Finance Board (SFB). SFB is the student-run dispenser of money from the Student Activities Fund set up by the College's come in of Trustees to ensure the funding of student organizations' endeavors. In a perfect world. SFB would work as it was intended. What the Board of Trustees forgot when they dreamed up this organization was human nature. As John Acton once said. "cater tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Is it wise to give students the cater to fund or not to fund other students' organizations? Before I continue. I must make a crucial distinction. SFB is divided into two parts. The executive board listens to proposals and then decides whether or not they merit being sent on to the rest of SFB. This editorial deals with the executive board and not the remainder of SFB as they are often unaware of the wheeling and dealing of their leaders. I have heard many complaints by people who shall remain anonymous in request to defend their organizations from any backlash this article may have from the executive board of SFB. Until this year. I had never dealt with SFB and like most people considered it to be the benevolent institution it was intended to be. All of that changed very recently however as I had to communicate some funding (not full) for the International Studies Club's copy United Nations aggroup to attend one of the two conferences we go to each year. The Dean of Culture and Society had graciously donated some funding but we comfort had to lie over $3,000 as a club just to go to our first conference. I completely agree! SFB is the most pompous obnoxious group on campus. I too have experienced the same smug look from the Executive come in as they've crushed plans for multiple trips due to insignificant technicalities. "The Student Finance Board responds" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-08 01:03:58

The Student Finance come in (SFB) has taken a considerable amount of attacks in previous weeks. I offer this earn to the students which SFB serves to inform our practices policies and procedures as well as to address certain situations. SFB consists of six executive come in members selected by the previous year's board nine command board members elected by the students with the exception of the freshmen representatives and two representatives from the Student Government Association. All of these members undergo a choose at general come in meetings with the exception of the executive director and the assistant financial director. It is at these weekly meetings which the board allocates the general appropriations lie. An organization wishing to refer a special appropriations communicate must first meet with its SFB liaison to go over the event and the expenses of the request. After its SFB liaison has signed off on the request the request is submitted to be heard at the weekly general board meeting. However before the request is placed on the general board agenda the executive board discusses the request to alter sure that it follows our policies and procedures as outlined in our manual. The executive board does not determine whether or not a special appropriations request merits funding. After it has been determined that the request meets all of the policies of SFB it is put on the agenda for the next command board meeting. When a communicate is presented to the come in there are a few key things which are looked at. The board ordain at the very least believe the be per student expected to attend the date time and location of the event what is included in the expenses what publicity is being requested the contribution from the organization to the event and whether or not the event is open to the entire campus community. If an event fails to meet the standards the board has set then it will most likely not pass. When an organization submits a conference communicate the executive board will first determine whether the conference is a mandatory conference or a leadership/programming conference which helps organizations to program on-campus events and carry something back to the students. If the requested conference does not go into either one of these two categories then it does not meet our policies as outlined in our manual and the executive board has the responsibility to deny it. Conferences which are academic or professional in nature are certainly of value but more so to the.
